A Small Product With a Structural Job
Every concrete structure moves. Slabs expand in the afternoon heat and contract at night, and the joints between them must absorb that movement without cracking. That is the job of the back-up rod: a compressible foam core inserted into the joint before sealing.
The rod fills the depth of the joint, supports the sealant at the correct thickness, and keeps flexing with the structure — our rods stretch to 60% elongation at break and recover from compression with just 1–2% permanent set. They are also used as fillers in all types of decoration work.
